 FAQs

  • WayMe uses GPS and virtual geofences to detect when you've strayed from your planned route. If you leave the safe zone, the app will send an off-track alert so you can quickly find your way back.

  • Yes! WayMe supports offline maps and navigation. Plan your route before your hike and access it even in areas with no signal.

  • LiveTracking allows you to share a link with friends or family that they can use to follow your progress. This link is not visible to people you have not shared it with.

  • With ProgressCheck and OverTime, WayMe monitors your progress towards safety points and your hike time compared to your plan. If you're behind schedule and don't respond to prompts, your emergency contacts can be automatically notified including a link to your location.

  • Yes! You can:

    • Select routes from our preloaded trail library

    • Plot your own route in the app

    • Upload a GPX file for custom or race routes

  • Yes! After completing a hike, you can share your route and adventure highlights directly to your social platforms or within the WayMe community.

  • WayMe uses your phone’s GPS to track your location, which can slightly increase battery usage during a hike. However, the app is optimized for efficiency. For example, on an iPhone 16 Pro, you can typically use WayMe for 7+ hours before needing to recharge. Actual battery life may vary depending on your device, network conditions, and other apps running in the background.

  • Yes! If you prefer to hike without active safety alerts, simply choose our "Just Hike" mode and tap Start. WayMe will record your route without triggering safety alerts. You’ll still have full access to detailed offline maps and can use LiveTracking to share your real-time location with friends and family if you wish.
